three collages on 8x8 cradle board

these are watercolor gouache and rice papers glued to cradle
board. Not my usual medium but its always good to experiment and learn.
The cellist is Lisel Salzer my mentor for 18 years. The others are her friends and they are also musicians for the Seattle Symphony, or were a while back.

the carved wood blocks

two are fir (too hard) and two are New Zealand pine (soft)

This technique began long ago in Europe and was adopted in the 1930s by some artists in Provincetown, RI.
It is now making a modest comeback through the Women Painters of Washington organization.
