Ritual sumi warmup

This is as far as I got today; I hope to have some paintings to post when I return from vacation at the coast. I had planned to paint some horses, but too many interruptions waylaid that plan.

Experiment with color inversion

Here's a view of the same Dungeness crab painting, but with opposite values.

Small sumi (ink) paintings

These paintings are seven inches square. The two crab ones show the two different sumi painting styles, one done with shapes and the other one in lines. Today's watercolor

(This painting is now sold.)

The Sunday Bouquet sold today to a lady from Texas. I think it is to be a gift. I did some sumi paintings after this warmup and they will appear after they have been mounted onto a backing with cornstarch glue, the traditional method although wall paper paste is popular with some sumi artists, I find it is not permanent. This little painting will go into the Gallery browser bin as the other did. It will find a home...

Sunday Bouquet

Today I painted this tiny bouquet while I was working at the Gallery at the Market. There were lots of people watching me paint, so it is a demo kind of painting.

Sold.
