These paintings show two different styles of sumi painting: the outline method and the regular, brush stroke shapes, bone and boneless. Both are common in sumi painting. The paper is the same, only the lighting is more incandescent on the middle one. I am no photographer, for sure. These are done particularly for a customer in San Franciso to choose from. They are putting together a series of my smaller paintings for the hallway in their condo. Framed as 8x10 they will go well together, a crab (or two), a hummingbird, horses, and maybe even a tiger for 2010 is the Year of the Tiger and I am a tiger person.
